Understanding the Hair Growth

Hair growth happens in a natural cycle that every hair follicle follows. Understanding this cycle can help explain why hair sometimes sheds or appears thinner during certain periods.
Hair grows in three main phases:
Anagen Phase (Growth Phase)
This is the active growth stage of hair. Hair can remain in this phase for several years, which is why some people are able to grow very long hair.
Catagen Phase (Transition Phase)
This is a short transitional stage where the hair follicle begins preparing for shedding.
Telogen Phase (Resting Phase)
During this phase, the hair rests before eventually shedding to make room for new growth.
Because different follicles are in different stages at any time, shedding some hair each day is completely normal.
